Lucinda Luvaas has had many exhibitions both nationally and abroad. Her work is part of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center at the Brooklyn Museum. She attended New York University, the New York Studio School, and the Art Student's League. Luvaas has taught studio and mural painting workshops at many colleges and institutions. In addition, she was the Director/Curator at Mt. San Jacinto College's Fine Art Gallery, where she created a multifaceted exhibition program including concerts, readings on two campuses, and weekly film screenings. She now works in the studio full time producing her multimedia projects.
The works of Lucinda Luvaas grab you with the intensity of their colors—the throbbing colors of city streets, train stations, county fairs and crowded beaches. They are filled with the hubbub of humanity: people strutting, riding bicycles, drinking coffee, dancing, laughing, turning around to talk or look. Fleeting moments in the flux of life. These images, which Luvaas calls “Imprints,” are based on photographs she takes, then converts into textured paintings.
